Lukhovitsy, the regional centre in the Moscow area, in 135 km to the southeast from Moscow and in 22 km to the southeast from Kolomna. It is located on Oksko-Moskvoretsky plain, on the Ryazan highway. Railway station on a line Moscow - Ryazan, it is connected by a branch line (27 km) with Зарайск.
